Medical Projects
Many of the children of Manabi Province suffer from congenital deformities, primarily orthopedic, genito-urinary and cardiac in nature. These health conditions are thought to be related to the heavy pesticide use in this agricultural region of Ecuador. Sadly, many patients share these ailments with their siblings, cousins and neighbors. Each year, usually in February or March, a Hands For Humanity surgical team travels to Ecuador to operate. The team assesses and corrects these patients deformities. Approximately 10-12 children receive surgery during this annual trip; many having operations on both extremities. Please visit our volunteer page to learn how to volunteer for a surgical trip!
